DECEMBER - REFLECTION
DECEMBER - REFLECTION
There are just 31 days till this year comes to a close. Although endings are important, we must try and not add any additional pressure to our minds & bodies in an already naturally high energy month. For many this month means an increase in social responsibilities, for others the pressure of meeting end of year goals, and for some sadness & loneliness can be present as may find ourselves far from our loved ones. As we navigate the wrap up of 2023, I invite us to pre-plan your mindful self-care this month. This will give you peace of mind, something to look forward to on the tough days and help you end the year with the right frame of mind & energy. Some of my favorite practices this month are:
Make time for rest: This is something I try to focus on every month, as my go-to vibe is to push myself to the edge of burnout. Romanticize your rest time, make a big deal about it - make it special - whip out the favorite PJs, get your favorite snacks, plan a movie picnic at home or head to your favorite spot in nature.
Journal: Start and end your days with sharing something you are grateful for. Then allow yourself to free write on how you feel each day and make one small commitment to how you will show up for yourself that day.
Social Media detox: Especially during the holidays it can breed a heavy dose of comparison syndrome. So allow yourself some “noise free” time and take a few hours or even a day off of social media.
Opting Out: Remembering that it’s OK to say no to things. We tend to spread ourselves extra thin in December, so feel ok and let go of the guilt of saying NO to anything that doesn’t truly fill you up this month.
Be with your tribe: This month more than ever, as we reflect on the past and look towards the new year, ensure you spend time with the people in your life who uplift & celebrate you. Remember that like energy attracts like energy. Let’s all shine together!
